therapy.
yep, so i forgot about this blog again. were we supposed to do one along with the one before this about the psych disorder and treatments? anyway, the image above is lyrics from a song that this chapter reminds me of. therapy. i feel as though therapy is just as controversial as medicating a child. you always see on television people refusing to go to therapy because of all the negative things they've heard- going to therapy means you're crazy, it doesn't work, etc. i'm sure you've heard stereotypes before. sure it's just tv, but it's not like those things don't happen in real life, either. i've never been to therapy, so i wouldn't know how it goes. all i have in my mind is someone sitting on a chair or a couch while they talk to someone that evaluates their thoughts. obviously there are other ways to go about therapy but that seems to be the most common among the media and society's definition of therapy. i think the most effective form of therapy would be cognitive-behavioural therapy. for the most part, anyway. if you have a serious psychological disorder, i doubt just talking about what's going on and learning what makes you act that way will really help. but if you're depressed or something and want to change your train of thought, it seems like a good way to do so. it might be more effective than being put on some pill that could just make things worse.
